Electrical Designer
Position Description
RMT is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our Engineering Department as an Electrical Designer.
Responsibilities include the following:
- Electrical Engineering design, based on calculations, conforming to sound engineering practices
- Ensure device performance reliability and conformance to customer specifications
- Design according to RMT standard policies (BOM parts lookup, device drawing generation)
- Ensure budget and schedule commitments are maintained in engineering design and attend meetings to review and ensure all projects are on budget and on schedule
- Negotiate price and delivery with electrical parts’ vendors
- Maintenance of device & system engineering portfolios, ensuring timely updates
- Assist in the modularization and standardisation of RMT ‘seed’ electrical drawings, incorporating RMT standards and ‘lessons learned’ from past projects
- Implement established goals for improved quality and reliability of our systems as well as research new electrical products and devices
From time to time, this position will be called upon to assist the Production Manager in addressing electrical issues arising on the shop floor and/or at the customer site. Occasional travel may be required.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- A graduate from a post secondary electrical program with related electrical design experience of schematics diagrams, pneumatics diagrams, panel layouts and electrical component specification
- Familiarity with all aspects of electrical manufacturing processes
- Knowledge of basic robot operations, including mechanical, electrical, and software interfacing
- Proficient in AutoCAD. Experience with AutoCAD Electrical would be an asset
- Organizational abilities and strong communication skills
